- Projects and manages inpatient care requirements and proactively manages staffing to meet peaks and troughs in inpatient care demand
- Measures, trends and compares variances between the demand and supply of nursing resources in order to maintain safe and cost effective patient care
- Assists in allocating fair and equitable workloads to nursing staff in each department and across the organisation
- Reduces and expands roster profiles in accordance with increases and decreases in patient acuity and bed utilisation to maximise patient safety, minimise waste and reduce nursing fatigue
- Monitors and trends the staff skill mix in each nursing department, to ensure care requirements are met and the cost per hour is retained within budget
- Measures patient turnover (churn) and bed utilisation on each shift for every day of the week

- Tracks, reports, analyses all productive and non-productive hours for any selected period to identify service requirements and measure performance against budget
- Tracks, trends and manages all labour hours including agency, casual, overtime and absenteeism to retain a cost per hour within budgetary parameters
- Identifies reasons for late and cancelled discharges providing opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce nursing workloads
- Maintains dynamic and comprehensive clinical handovers for all disciplines based on the international standard SBAR
- Identifies nursing and allied health intensity per episode of care and DRG for cost weight and budget development
- Provides a dynamic multi disciplinary diet ordering system with extensive reporting
